The latest figures released by Cornwall Airport Limited have revealed a significant increase in passengers using Newquay Cornwall Airport for both business and pleasure.
According to the latest figures, 71,233 passengers used the Airport between April and June 2015. This represents a 26% increase on the same period last year. The significant rise in passenger figures is attributed to more people using the London-Gatwick service and the increase in scheduled flights to and from Manchester and Birmingham and new services to Dublin and London-Stansted
Airport MD, Al Titterington, said: “Passenger numbers continue to grow month on month, a trend which we expect to continue throughout the summer. We continue to work really hard with airlines to ensure routes and passengers continue to grow now and in the future".
Welcoming the increase in passenger numbers Adam Paynter, Cabinet Member for Resources says, "This is good news for Newquay Cornwall Airport and for Cornwall. The Airport is a vital part of Cornwall's connectivity and the Council is committed to its ongoing sustainable development. Newquay Cornwall Airport is currently the fastest growing airport in the UK and these figures are further evidence of its success".
